About Counselling Arabia

Counselling Arabia’s continuing aims are to work with practitioners and institutions:

·         To promote excellence and innovation, equality of opportunity and continuous quality improvement in counselling throughout the Gulf Region

·         To inform and influence policies and agendas relating to counselling for the benefit of both clients and practitioners

·         To develop and foster local, regional, national and international networks and partnerships

·         To take a professional lead in creating, promoting and maintaining appropriate policies and strategies that develop best practice in counselling

·         To promote and develop training events and networks to meet the changing needs of counselling practitioners

·         To communicate and promote the value and benefits of Counselling Arabia, and its activities in order to inform and influence the widest appropriate audience

Leadership & Advocacy

·         Develop community awareness of the concept, benefit and value of counselling and career development

·         Develop and facilitate strategic liaisons with stakeholders and policy makers

·         Contribute to community development and capacity building

·         Build relationships with the international counselling and career development community

Standards of Practice

·         Provide ethical and quality counselling and career services to people of all ages, to benefit the individual, the community, the wider society and the economy

·         Promote professional standards and practice within the counselling and career development fields

Learning and Development

·         Promote the professional development and growth of counselling and career practitioners, human resource professionals, social workers and other stakeholders

Research

·         Promote research in counselling and career guidance and develop materials and techniques for the local context

Membership of Counselling Arabia is open to anyone working in the counselling, human resource, training, coaching and career development fields in the UAE who actively participates in at least one of the competency areas:
          - Individual assessment and counselling
          - Group assessment and counselling
          - Career and labour market information provision
          - Personal, career and educational counselling and consultation
          - Counselling program research, design, and evaluation
          - Counselling program management and implementation
          - Human Resource Management
          - Counsellor education and training
          - Supervision, mentoring and coaching
